Tribeca Tipi Weddings : Chloe & Duncan's beautiful summer festival tipi wedding

Updated: Dec 13, 2021

Blessed with an incredibly hot and sunny weekend in July, Chloe and Duncan celebrated their tipi wedding at Knepp Castle Estate in West Sussex in true festival style! A magical woodland wedding ceremony at Two Woods Estate was followed by a tipi reception and party at Knepp Castle Estate. Our three giant hat tipis were situated overlooking the lake and guests were able to glamp overnight nearby with views to the lake, tipis and woodland.

Inside, the tipis were beautifully decorated with bohemian style macrame bunting and hangings - made by Chloe, rustic wooden crates, faux & dried florals, terracotta cheesecloth napkins, sheepskins and recycled and painted bottles for table flowers.

Whilst the drinks flowed, guests were entertained with some lively lawn games included a spot of welly wanging and a very energetic tug of war!

What made you decide on a tipi wedding ? Duncan and I always wanted a wedding that was a little different. We were together when we were teenagers and broke up but then bumped into each other years later at a festival and have loved going to festivals together ever since. So we wanted to create a relaxed festival style wedding and when we saw the giant tipi style hats we thought they were perfect for what we wanted!

Where did you find your inspiration for your wedding day? Hours of searching on Pinterest! Searching for boho and festival style weddings. There’s so much out there to give lots of great ideas. Any tips or advice you can give when planning a festival style tipi wedding? Make a list about everything you like about a festival from music to decor to drinks and think about how you can include this in your wedding or search it on Pinterest. Make mood boards on Pinterest and Instagram to save anything you like! If you’re crafty make as many of the decorations as possible yourself. When bringing the day together to set everything up bring in as many friends and family as you can to help decorate. Give people list of things to do to help bring together your vision together. Did you have a wedding planner to help with your wedding? We didn’t have a wedding planner as such but last minute we decided to have someone to help out on the day! Would definitely recommend this. Charlotte does full wedding planning and will help with as much or as little as you like! She ensured everything ran smoothly right until the very end! From ensuring there was enough wine on the table, clearing empties and rubbish to bringing out and cutting up the cake and desserts and ensuring we were following the order of the day! Did you have a caterer? Yes we used mid Sussex hog roasts! Who were delicious, everyone commented on how lovely the food was and also how filling it was which is definitely needed with a full day of drinking! They also made paella for the evening. My mum made our cake and best friend and mother in law made the desserts which were placed on table for people to help themselves to.

Tipi decor and florals?

My florist actually suggested I used faux flowers as they would go well with our theme and we could keep them forever afterwards! I have my bouquet in my lounge and bridesmaids got to keep theirs as a gift! Yes, I made all the macrame myself! I enjoyed doing it in the evenings in front of the telly and now have gifted them out for people to have as wall decorations.

Best moments ? Difficult to pick, it was amazing from start to finish! But a big highlight was dancing all day and night. The dance floor you guys set up with the fairy lights around the poles and the disco ball was perfect! It was full all night long and well into the early hours! Also, largely down to our amazing band The Altitudes!

A stunning summer tipi & woodland festival wedding - captured perfectly by Carla at The Unbridled and a big thank you Chloe & Duncan, for sharing these beautiful images with us. x
